Spring, New Beginnings, and Intellectual Wellness

We are finishing up winter and heading into spring!  I must admit I am excited for Spring, specifically, April.  Why?  Because I am going to be a first-time grandma!  After raising 4 boys, I am getting a granddaughter!   The feeling of pride and joy I have watching my son find love and start a family is amazing!  I adore my daughter-in-law and her family, and I couldn’t be more excited to meet this precious grandbaby!  I hope I don’t spoil her too much (wink, wink)!

I have been working on my health for a while, but having a new grandbaby is giving me more motivation.   I want to be around for a long time to see my grandkids (Yes, I’m hoping for more than one!) grow up!  When we were given the topic of intellectual wellness, I wasn’t sure what that meant.  After a quick Google search, it made sense.  Intellectual wellness is actively working on expanding knowledge, skills and awareness.  It can improve mental health and overall well-being.  There are many ways to improve intellectual wellness: Reading, taking a class or workshop, joining a club, writing, exploring music, cooking or art, working on a puzzle or playing a brain game or volunteering.  These activities can improve memory and problem-solving skills, reduce depression and give a greater sense of fulfillment.  What can you do to improve your intellectual wellness?

MOW is still looking for volunteer drivers to fill some open routes.  We have routes available in the Heights and the West End or if you would like to substitute, that is an option as well!  If interested, please contact Erin, our volunteer coordinator at (406) 294-1590.

Happy Spring!
